As part of its ongoing campaign against the rebellious Karen State, Myanmar’s government recently attacked two villages, causing over 1,000 villagers to flee for the Thai border. Myanmar’s ruling State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) are engaged in fighting with the Karen National Union and, according to Amnesty International, assume civilians of the state to be supporters of the rebel group
