Pakistan's relations with neighbouring Afghanistan remain frosty, with the latter's suspicion toward the former having intensified on the back of the Indian embassy bombings in Kabul on July 7. Indeed, an Afghan presidential spokesman on July 8 said that the suicide attack bore all the hallmarks of a foreign intelligence agency - seen as a veiled accusation that the Pakistani Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) lay behind the act. Kabul has already blamed Pakistan for the failed assassination attempt on President Hamid Karzai in April, a large jail break in Kandahar in May and a host of other attacks.
