Visitor arrivals to Hong Kong continued to grow in February, despite visitor numbers from mainland China declining as a result of the Lunar New Year holiday and severe winter snow storms. Total arrivals rose 2.9% y-o-y to 2.35mn, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, although visitors from China - the largest source of tourist arrivals - fell 2.6%. Visitor numbers from Taiwan also dropped in February, falling 5.6% y-o-y again as a result of Luna New Year celebrations, but visitors from elsewhere continued to witness strong growth with arrivals from South and Southeast Asia rising 19.5% y-o-y and visitors from Europe, Africa and the Middle East up 20.1%.
