Government View: Following growth of 5.4% in 2006, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's chief of staff has said that growth could reach 7% this year, accelerating to 8% in 2008 and 9% in 2009. However, his comments were not supported by Finance Secretary Margarito Teves, and the government retains its official growth target of 6.1-6.7% for 2007.
