The rupee has come under renewed pressure since the start of 2007, having fallen from LKR107.50/US$ to LKR108.60/US$. Two recent bus bomb attacks in government-controlled territory serve as a reminder that the de facto civil war is already affecting the south. The rupee looks set to breach its previous record low of LKR109.15/US$ seen on November 20, and drift lower.
