Although we recently raised our FY06/07 growth forecast to 6.0% from 5.5% in view of the economy's resilience, we believe that the government's and central bank's forecast of 7.0% is overly optimistic, given that political uncertainty has been prolonged by the postponement of the January 22 election. Indeed, there is still scope for major disruption to the economy after the election.
