Government View: The Indian Finance Minister Palaiappan Chidambaram expects the economy to grow by more than 8.0% in FY2006/07 (April-March). The central bank is also optimistic, forecasting growth of 8.0%. The finance ministry has also said that the recent rise in inflation does not suggest that the economy is caught in an inflationary spiral, since prices have not followed a unidirectional upward
