The nuclear energy cooperation deal with the US has received an initial approval by the US House of Representatives. It still awaits approval by the Senate and then the House and Senate will need to vote again after negotiations on the technical details of the agreement are completed. The US Assistant Secretary of State for south and central Asia, Richard Boucher, is confident, however, that little will change from the initial deal struck when George W. Bush visited India in March.
