BMI View: Asia's investment environment is one of the key strengths contributing to its rapid economic rise over the past few decades. In our business environment ratings it scores an average of 48.6 (excluding Japan), compared with an average of 44.5 in the world's other emerging markets. This helps to explain why Asia has been the world's fastest growing region in the post-war period, and why it will continue to outperform South America, which has a rating of 43.5, and Africa, which has an average of 35.7.
