We expect Singapore's economy to grow by 5.3% in 2006, which is down on the strong growth in 2005, but still strong. This growth rate will be driven by a favourable external environment, and supported by emerging growth in consumption and investment. Tight monetary policy will serve to slow the growth level, but expansionary fiscal policy will go a little towards counteracting
