A conference organised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on last year's Indian Ocean tsunami has been held in Thailand. The conference, which was held over three days, discussed a number of issues, including how well the region responded to the disaster, and how lives could be saved in the event of another tsunami. Asian countries were criticised after the tsunami hit for the lack of regional cooperation, and were criticised for not having an early warning system in place. The fact that the conference took place suggests that the countries are concerned are trying to learn some of lessons
