Singapore's parliament was prorogued on April 13 and will convene for its second session in conjunction with the President's Address on May 18. Prorogation is a period between two sessions of a legislative body, and it is usually taken to help the government keep track of progress made in the initial session. Plans for the remaining term are also outlined during the session and it may serve as an opportune moment for the government to plan its strategies in helping Singapore cope with the severe downturn. New priorities set by the government will be set out in the Presidential Address.
