2014 Mission Completion Date Unrealistic And Risky

BMI View: NATO's announcement that it would like to end all combat operations in Afghanistan by the end of 2014 is unsurprising, but we doubt that the alliance's mission will have been fulfilled by that date. Moreover, the semi-official implied departure dates being set by NATO and the US risk emboldening the Taliban, thereby making the West's goals even more difficult to achieve.
