Investors have Asia firmly in their sights, and Singapore's sovereign wealth fund (SWF) appears to be acutely aware of this fact. In July, Temasek issued its inaugural sterling-denominated bond, a GBP700mn triple A-rated issue, in order to help satisfy the growing demand for Asian assets among investors in developed markets. The issue finished three times oversubscribed, with bids totaling some GBP2.5bn. Mirroring the SWF's own reputation as a long-term fundamental investor, UK pension funds and life assurance firms headed the queue to buy the firm's debt.
