June 2010 | Ratings UpdateIndonesia's former chief detective General Susno Duadji was arrested on May 11 on charges of accepting bribes amounting to IDR500mn (US$55,000) in 2008. Police spokesman Edward Aritonang said that Susno broke anti-corruption laws and could be jailed for more than five years. The arrest follows months of bitter infighting between senior police officers over their alleged involvement in the 'judicial mafia' that critics accuse of operating Indonesia's courts on behalf of the rich and powerful.
