Flights Increased
June 2010 | Ratings UpdateAfter two days of talks in Taipei, Taiwanese and Chinese aviation officials agreed to raise the number of cross-Strait flights on May 22. The number of weekly return passenger flights will climb from 270 to 370 while the number of cargo flights will increase from 28 to 48. On May 30 President Ma Ying-jeou expressed his desire for an additional 200 flights to be added to the increased weekly passenger flight limit. We believe these developments are an encouraging sign of ongoing economic integration between the two Chinas, with this particular episode being particularly positive for Taiwan's tourism sector.
