Growth Prospects Impaired By Poor Remittance Outlook

We remain sceptical of Myanmar's growth prospects going forward in spite of the hope for change instilled by the upcoming elections. This is because an ongoing crackdown on illegal immigrants in neighbouring Thailand is likely to reduce remittances and hamper private consumption growth going forward.
