Imelda Marcos Stages Comeback

Imelda Marcos, who is the widow of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos, announced her bid to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives for the forthcoming May 2010 elections. The former first lady last foray into national politics was in 1992, when she lost a presidential bid to Fidel Ramos. Marcos said that she aims to redeem her husband, who has been accused of plundering billions of dollars from the state when he was in power, leading to the 'People Power' revolution of 1986 that resulted in the Marcos family's exile till 1991.
