Death Triggers 10th By-election
March 2010 | Ratings UpdateDatuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad, Member of Parliament (MP) for Malaysia's Hulu Selangor district in Selangor, died on March 25 at his home. The politician was an MP from the opposition People's Justice Party (PKR). Zainal's death will trigger Malaysia's 10th by-election since the March 2008 polls. As PKR won the Hulu Selangor seat by a razor-thin 198 votes over the ruling Barisan Nasional's (BN's) G. Palanivel two years ago, we believe the split in voter support will make this seat a tough one to keep for the opposition.
