Ratings Update - Thailand

Following the verdict by the Thai Supreme Court regarding the seizure of 60% of former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra's assets, Thaksin's team has begun preparing a case for a rehearing. Central to the case is the Supreme Court's recognition of the authority of the generals who initiated the coup in 2006. Aside from legal action, Thaksin's supporters are also preparing a mass anti-government rally scheduled for mid-March. Given further uncertainties about the strength of the opposition, we believe that the army may be forced to step in if the street protests turned violent.
