February 2010 | Ratings UpdateThousands of protestors took to the streets on January 28 to protest President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's 100th day in his second term. While Yudhoyono retained his position with considerable support, his popularity has waned slightly in recent months. We point to two key incidents - the perceived unfair detention of two key officials from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) by the police and the Bank Century bailout - that have caused disillusionment amongst the public. Going forward, Yudhoyono needs to reassure the people that he is still adamant on curbing corruption.
