February 2010 | Ratings UpdateThe governments of India and Bangladesh inked several treaties and agreements during a three-day visit of Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to New Delhi in mid-January. Key agreements include furthering co-operation on terrorism, and the opening up of Bangladesh's seaports for use by India, and also by Bhutan and Nepal. If stability is maintained, the agreement could serve to stabilise the South Asia region and help improve the regional profile score in India's political risk ratings.
