Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Minh Triet concluded a two-day visit to Singapore on November 17, marking the first visit by a Vietnamese president to the island since 1998. Ties between Vietnam and Singapore are strong, with at least five senior leader visits from both sides over the last year. Economic cooperation between the two countries is also flourishing and Singapore Prime Minister is expected to visit Vietnam to launch the fourth phase of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) located in Haiphong. The VSIP is a flagship cooperation programme launched in 1996 and has attracted considerable foreign investment.
