MILF Assures Peace While BOP Improves

The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chairman Al Haj Murad on September 26 announced that its organisation has invited Japan to join the newly formed International Contact Group (ICG) to facilitate the peace process in Mindanao. The ICG will be made up of international observers, prefereably including members of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) and the European Union (EU). Notably, Murad assured the Japanese embassy's envoy Hitoshi Ozawa that MILF will remain committed to pursue the peace process with the subsequent administration even if an agreement could not be reached by June 2010, when President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's term ends.
