Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman met his Indonesian counterpart, Hassan Wirajuda on September 15, following the 'Pendet' controversy which has threatened to sour the ties between the two countries. Malaysia was accused of laying claim to the Pendet dance - a traditional Balinese dance - after a Discovery Channel advertisement erroneously labelled it as a Malaysian product, leading to an outcry in the Indonesian media. Anifah clarified that the Malaysian government had never made such an assertion hence the issue 'should not be raised again'. Meanwhile, Hassan urged the Indonesian press to ensure accuracy in their reporting to prevent such misunderstanding from reoccurring.
