Deputy Foreign Minister Ho Xuan Son asked China on June 8 to stop preventing Vietnamese fishermen from doing their work in disputed parts of the South China Sea. Son claimed that increased Chinese patrols, including in Vietnamese waters, had led to a growing number of arrests and fines for 'normal fishing activities by Vietnamese fishermen in Vietnam's traditional fishing grounds'.
