Australia Security Pact Sealed
March 2009 | Ratings UpdateSouth Korea and Australia have boosted their co-operation in fighting terrorism and nuclear arms proliferation in a move that is likely to further irk North Korea. President Lee Myung-bak signed the landmark security pact while visiting Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd in Canberra on March 4-5. In addition to defence issues, the two also agreed to start negotiations over a free trade agreement (FTA) and enhance their partnership to tackle the current downturn and achieve sustainable growth.
