October 2008 | Political Risk AnalysisBMI View: Despite reports that North Korean leader Kim Jong Il suffered a stroke in August, there have been no signs of unusual developments to indicate instability. In the event of Kim's demise, North Korean leaders have a vested interest in regime stability rather than fighting among themselves, and we would expect broad continuity. However, given the opaque nature of the regime, nothing can be ruled out.
