Cambodia will export some 50,000 tonnes of dried rubber over the next year, according to national media sources, marking a sharp rise from the current 30,000 tonnes as the country's expansion project begins to bear fruit. The Mekong Times quoted general director of the General Directorate of Rubber Plantation Ly Phalla as saying that 'Cambodia's exports of dried rubber will continue to rise as the new rubber trees which have been planted over the past five years…are tapped for resin'. However, despite the government's encouraging efforts to diversify its export sector, garments will nonetheless overwhelmingly remain Cambodia's main source of export revenue.
