Domestic Demand To Cushion External Slowdown?

BMI View: We maintain our broadly sanguine outlook on the Thai economy in view of the return to democratic rule, pro-market policies and a fairly buoyant momentum in domestic demand. However, export sector earnings will likely be impinged on by the swift appreciation of the baht and a moderation in demand from key export markets while the meteoric rise of oil prices inflates the import bill.
