Macroeconomic Forecast Bangladesh

April 2008 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

BMI View: Our growth forecast of 6.00% in FY07/08 (July-June) is subject to downside risks, owing to high inflation (which hit a 17-year high of 11.6% in December, before easing to 11.4%) and fuel prices, political uncertainty ahead of the 2008 elections, and the devastation caused by Cyclone Sidra. We are also concerned by an 18.0% y-o-y decline in targeted development spending in FY07/08, which reflected a lack of timely disbursement of funds.
