Factors Affecting Regime Stability
March 2008 | Political Risk AnalysisBMI View: North Korea's short-term political risk rating is stable at 79.0, reflecting our expectations of regime and policy continuity going forward. Our long-term political risk rating is much lower, at 55.1, owing to the inherent shortcomings of totalitarian regimes. Still, we see upside potential for the latter rating, since a potential collapse of the regime would likely see a more benign administration coming to power.
