Inflation Main Concern For Parliament

BMI View: Rising inflation has now become main focus of Vietnamese politics, with the newly-elected National Assembly speaking out about the pains of rapid price growth. It is clear that the government has now made combating inflation its main focus. The question is how it is to move from its present strategy of micromanaging prices and supply to a monetarist approach and reduce money supply growth. This will, however, be a contentious issue for the government due to the strong preference for command-economy style methods still prevalent within the ruling Communist Party.
