January 2008 | Ratings UpdateIndonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono arrived in Malaysia on January 10 for a three-day visit to smooth straining relations between the neighbouring countries, following recent disputes over cultural theft and ill-treatment of migrant workers. In response to Indonesian complaints last year about Malaysia's use of an Indonesian folk song and mask dance in its tourism campaign, a working group with seven 'eminent persons…from each side' will be formed, to resolve issues relating to culture and religion, among other matters. The two countries have also agreed to form a joint committee to explore ways to boost bilateral trade and investment.
