June 2007 | Ratings UpdateIndonesia and East Timor made a pledge in June to move ahead with reconciliation despite criticism over the Commission of Truth and Friendship (CTF)'s progress at examining the violence that occurred during the nation's 1999 vote for independence from Jakarta. There is widespread concern from various rights groups that the body, modelled on South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission, has served to whitewash the atrocities.
