Macroeconomic Forecast South Korea

May 2007 | Macroeconomic Forecasts

BMI View: We are expecting the South Korean economy to post a sharp recovery in H207 after a soft spot in Q406 and Q107, lifting full-year GDP growth towards 4.7%. We believe this will be achieved on the back of rising investment and an improvement of domestic demands. We believe these are trends that will hold up the economy over the year as South Korean exporters aim to cut cost through capital investment and venture to expand capacity in anticipation of stronger demand in the future as a result of the pending FTA agreement with the US and the ongoing free trade negotiations with the EU.
