Wen Visit To Shore Up Sino-Japanese Relations
April 2007 | Market StrategyChinese Prime Minister Wen Jiabao's visit to Japan this week - the first by a Chinese leader since 2000 - should provide a much-needed boost for bilateral relations. Although there remain significant differences over their mutual history, Beijing and Tokyo realise that they have much to gain from co-operation, in areas such as energy, the environment, and international trade. However, mutual concerns over defence policies will continue to overshadow the relationship.
