Trade Surplus Drops, But Outlook Still Strong

BMI View: Despite falling substantially in March, we continue to expect that China will post another hefty trade surplus this year. As such, pressure on the authorities to curb the surplus, including by allowing the yuan to appreciate at a faster pace, will persist, and the risk of greater trade protectionism
