BMI View: Indonesia's economy grew by 5.5% in 2006, after Q4 data revealed a high-than-expected growth rate of 6.1% y-o-y, the highest in almost two years. The private sector has been released from the stifling grip of the country's tight monetary policy which, since April 2006, has been gradually relaxed to allow for a resumption of investment and consumption expenditure.
