FTA: Nearing Agreement?
March 2007 | Risk SummarySouth Korea and the US are pressing ahead to conclude a long-awaited free trade agreement. In order for a deal to be struck before the White House's authority to negotiate trade deals that cannot be amended expires, on June 30, the two sides must reach agreement by the end of March (congress must be notified 90 days before signing any agreement). The differences that have to be worked out are centred on market access for, among other things, automobiles, pharmaceuticals and agricultural products.
