The announcement that President Hu Jintao will make his first visit to India and Pakistan in November comes amid reports that a possible free trade agreement between Beijing and New Delhi is on the cards. Bilateral relations between China and India have been thorny since a 1962 border war, but the trip will underscore the progress made in resolving their differences, at a time when business between the two countries appears to supercede politics.
