Focus On March 2007 Elections
November 2006 | Ratings UpdateChief Executive Donald Tsang, who has received much criticism for not pushing hard enough for democratic reform, has said he would like to see a contested election next March. Tsang, who has the support of Beijing, was selected unopposed in 2005, with opposition figures unable even to get on the ballot as a result of the current electoral rules. Hong Kong's Chief Executive is picked by an 800-strong electoral committee weighted in Beijing's favour.
