Yudhoyono Losing Popularity

A failure to deliver on a number of promises that won him power in the 2004 has led to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's approval rating in polls falling below 50%. He has not achieved the ambitious target of sustaining the 6.0% growth that he feels would address the country's unemployment problem, while progress on his package of promised reforms has been slow. The President does, however, have until 2009 to demonstrate progress before the next election, and we expect his approval rating to improve going forward. There is still limited risk to his
