BMI View: While the rescheduling of April's annulled parliamentary election for October 15 set a timetable for resolving Thailand's political impasse, the failure of the Senate to approve new election commissioners before the upper house went into recess on September 1 means that the vote will now have to be delayed. The prolonged uncertainty will continue to act as a drag on the economy, and has prompted us to downgrade Thailand's short-term political risk
