Taiwan's ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) concluded its annual congress with promises to tackle corruption, as the party faces its worst crisis in twenty years amid an ongoing scandal involving the president's family. Party members remained tight-lipped on the issue of President Chen Shui-bian, who did not attend the meeting, and calls for him to quit the party, or even have his powers reined in, were visibly absent.
