June 2006 | Macroeconomic ForecastsDomestic consumption in Malaysia is going to be weak in the year ahead, with high inflation and rising interest rates hurting consumer confidence. Growth should not, however, slow from last year's rate of 5.3%, as the global economy remains strong. This should allow Malaysian exports, particularly electronics exports, to perform well and should support investor confidence. The government's 6% target looks unrealistic, but this is not going to be a year of weak
