We expect GDP growth to acclerate slightly to 5.6% in 2006. However, the external environment remains a risk to this forecast, amid sustained high oil prices and a possible slowdown in US growth. A fall in domestic demand growth amid monetary tightening presents a further downside risk. However, there is an upside risk of Malaysian exporters capitalising on a favourable external environment.
