We believe that the Philippines’ economy grew by 4.8% in 2005, representing a slowdown from the 6.0% growth in 2004. The economy performed relatively well in 2005, despite the country’s political scandals, with the government successfully bringing down the country’s budget deficit, while maintaining remittances at a record level.
