Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono returned home on July 30 from a four-day state visit to China aimed at boosting trade and investment ties with the world's fastest-growing economy. Yudhoyono and his Chinese counterpart, Hu Jintao, agreed to boost bilateral trade to US$30bn by 2010 from about US$10bn today. Seven investment deals, worth US$7.5bn, were also concluded during the trip. Indonesia and China broke off diplomatic relations in 1967 after Jakarta accused Beijing of backing a failed coup attempt by the Indonesian Communist Party.
