November 2004 | Risk SummaryWorking with an opposition-controlled parliament will be a key challenge for Indonesia's newly elected president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. The pro-government People's Coalition, which includes the Yudhoyono's Democratic Party, controls just 233 seats in the 550-strong People's Representative Council. Drawn-out fighting over who should chair powerful commissions has dominated proceedings since the council began sitting on October 1. Unless Yudhoyono develops a working relationship with parliament, key economic legislation will not make it onto the statute
